Joe & his helpmeet*Founder and Director, Donkeys for JesusA Christian Mission for CubaI first spoke with Joe by phone, around 1978, when he called me during my daily Christian radio talk show. He and his wife and their son began driving a long distance on Sundays to be part of our church. Joe and his wife were ever generous and helpful. I recall that she beautifully reupholstered a sofa for the church, and we looked forward to those invitations to have Sunday afternoon dinner at their home. Always looking for ways to serve God, they took teenage boys into their home as foster children. Incisive, no-nonsense, brilliant, hard working, and deeply in love with our Savior, Joe and his wife have successfully founded this difficult ministry to the Cuban people, Donkeys for Jesus, actually traveling to Cuba frequently to encourage and support the work of Christ. Joe and his wife were a tremendous blessing to our church in general and to my family in particular. Sometimes it takes us a little while to get a true perspective on how important some people are in our lives. I cant think of anyone more worthy of your prayers or support. So sad that, once again, we must omit this wonderful servants last name as well as his wife's first name, but the risk of arrest and imprisonment is real. Recently, another brother was indeed arrested, imprisoned, then sent back to his point of origin. He is now persona non grata in Cuba; he may never return as long as the communists remain in power. October Mission TripDear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,Our luggage is packed to the max with many ministry supplies for the Cuban church. I have packed one extra duffel bag so I am in an overweight situation. I have (nearly 200 pounds of) clothes and ministry supplies for Cuban Pastors and their families. We expect to see the work of God on this beautiful island. I have received several e-mails from our Cuban friends expressing their desire to see the ?Old Gringo? again. I just celebrated my sixty six birthday so the use of the ?old? word is appropriate. Ha, ha! We want to give thanks and recognition of our support team members. Your prayers and support for us are a real encouragement and manifestation of God's faithfulness. Each gift we receive is magnificent as we stand in reverence of the faithfulness of God. We are thankful for God's bountiful provision and blessing in our lives. Below is a Ministry Schedule (deleted by Cross Trainers editor for purposes of security), which you can use as a prayer guide. Please pray for us! Blessings Joe Ore mucho por
nosotros. Dios les bendiga. Cuba"Donkeys for Jesus"Brother Joe has returned from Cuba.
One of the purposes of Donkeys for Jesus is to provide funds to buy or build house churches like the one shown above. One half of the building houses the pastor's family, the other half houses the church. As in India, Sunday school and many programs are conducted outdoors under the trees. $600 will purchase a building for a church. |
