Kevin and Gertrude NicholasWycliffe Bible Translators
Kevin N. Nicholas In July, 1974, at the conclusion of his sophmore year at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he was studying computer science, Kevin Nicholas began attending our Assembly. He became very active, as a bus captain, junior church worker, vocalist and musician. Soon he and Stanley Birnbaum began attending Valley Forge Christian College, coming home faithfully every weekend to minister in the church. The dedication these young men displayed cannot be overestimated. Theyd leave Valley Forge after Friday classes and drive 250 miles through the mountains of northern Pennsylvania, sun, rain or snow, to be available Saturday morning for the bus ministry breakfast, street evangelism, and for the ministries on Sunday. After a quick Sunday meal, theyd drive back to VFCC where theyd struggle to keep up with the academic schedule. After graduation, Kevin went on board full-time as worship leader, Christian school teacher, and a hundred other jobs. It might be mentioned that in the early 1980s, with a degree in computer science from RPI, he received a mere $35 per week from our church. To quote another great man of God, Paul Morrissette, that was a pittance. But his faithfulness was equaled by his generosity.

Kevin was able to fulfill a longtime dream by becoming a missionary to the Philippines. Later, joining Wycliffe, he pressed on with the work. Returning to the USA after five years on the field, Wycliffe put him to work enlisting others in the work. He met the woman who would become his wife, and he and Gertrude were wed. She had been a missionary to Papua, New Guinea.
Gertrude Nicholas Home on furlough, Kevin is currently enrolled in a language program in Dallas, while Gertrude pursues other responsibilities at Wycliffe. When they raise the additional 1/3 of their support required, the plan to return to their vital ministry in Papua New Guinea. Kevin will provide exegetical support for the translators and Gertrude will continue her work in training literacy workers. Please consider providing prayer and financial support for these two faithful servants as the Lord leads.
